Would you like to see more women carpenters?
...more women electricians?
...more women plumbers?
...more women mechanics?
The Women in Apprenticeships and NonTraditional Occupations (WANTO) program, lead by the YWCA of Great Cincinnati, has this very goal in mind.
However, the success of the WANTO program depends on volunteer role model speakers. Role model speakers are women who have experience in a trade or technical career, such as carpentry, electrical wiring, plumbing or other jobs that are not traditionally done by women. Role model speakers aid the WANTO program by encouraging women to pursue a trade or technical career. If you would like to give back to your community then consider joining the Role Model Speakers Bureau.
The Role Model Speakers Bureau is comprised of volunteers who share their story of being a woman in the trade with women who are interested in a trade or technical career. If you would like to support the next generation of women in the trade as a role model speaker, contact Beverly Jacquez at 513-361-2145 for more information.
Application Process:
1) Contact Beverly Jacquez at 513-361-2145 to request an application.
2) Schedule a phone interview so that we can learn more about your work experience.
3) Attend the 2-hour Role Model Speakers Bureau training.
The YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
This is a service of the Women in Apprenticeships and NonTraditional Occupations (WANTO) program.
The WANTO program is made possible through a grant funded by the U.S. Department of Labor.
