World music ensemble playing mix of traditionals (20%) and originals (80%) -fusion, gypsy, jazz, middle-eastern - for tribal dancers (based in American style tribal belly dance,) seeks the following:

a) low end melodic player - bass (electric or upright,) cello or tuba
someone to bridge melody and drive rhythm
b) percussionist - particularly low end (tupan, marching bass, dumbek, kick) someone to hold down the beat

Both/either player would be better off with some experience in odd time signatures (6, 7, 9) and some sort of folk musics. Not neccessary, but helpful. We play by ear so reading won't help much.

Dedicated weekly rehearsals. Periodic gigs. Not in it for the money.
You need to be able to work professionally with female dancers; inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated. Gender, age. ethnicity etc. not an issue…
